MadisonAV’s resident Audio expert, Benjamin Page, discusses his top 3 features of the JBL AWC range that make it a go-to for ease of use, and the product of choice for some Australia’s high-performance sporting facilities
MadisonAV are fortunate to have the expertise of Benjamin Page on board as our National Business Development Manager for Audio. Benjamin still regularly provides his 30 years of expertise at the other end of the scope, as an end user when operating and mixing sound across some of Australia’s most prominent sporting and high-performance large venues. Most recently he held the position of Audio Director for the Brisbane Cricket Ground. Benjamin holds significant experience and knowledge of what fits best in these large scale audio applications, and what will be the best solution for the end user – pulling from his real-world experience.
The JBL AWC range is a family of compact, lightweight, 2-way, full-range loudspeakers designed for a variety of all-weather deployment applications. Currently being deployed in many commercial shopping malls and indoor / outdoor sporting facilities as background, foreground, and high SPL performance delivery systems – Suncorp Stadium, Gabba Stadium, and the Queensland Tennis Centre to name a few.
Here are his picks for the top 3 features of the JBL AWC range:
1. Outstanding Protection: Stainless steel hardware, heavy zinc rich brackets for installation on flat or in corner locations, and corrosion-resistant zinc-rich extra-thick powder coated steel grilles with a 3-layer foam and woven poly mesh backing ensures the loudspeaker system is protected in the harshest environments. The system can be deployed in vertical or horizontal orientation to suit any application.
2. Superb Speech Intelligibility The IP56 rated grey or black ABS glass enclosure is tough and resonance free allowing the Kevlar-reinforced 6.5”, 8”, 12” and 15” low frequency cone transducers to produce solid bass performance. Combine this with the 1” & 1.5” true co-axial high frequency driver assembly and you have superb speech intelligibility, especially at the crossover frequency, as a single, unified, time aligned waveform exits the loudspeaker system.
3. Unrivalled Performance Physical design is just part of the rock-solid package. High saturation transformers allow for low frequency signals to be reproduced without the distortion issues usually associated with high impedance speakers. This, paired with advanced crossover networks allows for full range audio coverage at high SPL over a high impedance line. Sonic-guard overload protection for the high-frequency driver ensures the system will not be damaged in delivering this high SPL. In summary, long term power handling, at 70V/100V or direct 8O low-impedance, places the AWC in a pedigree all its own.
