Smaller diameter cables for AV applications

When 28 AWG cables were first created, they were intended for use in data center applications to reduce pathway congestion, create more room for equipment and make high-density, bulk patching easier.

Now, 28 AWG patch cords are finding their way into AV applications, too. With IoT devices like digital signage displays, projectors and phones connecting to networks via PoE cable, AV professionals have been asking: Can smaller-diameter patch cords (such as 28 AWG) be used in PoE applications to save space there as well? The answer: yes! But there are a few things to keep in mind.
